1 word to describe the Sectionals in Stockholm

AWESOME 🙂

2 things I would have done different

1. Started my deadlift on 115 kg. instead of 110 kg. in order to have reached 125 kg.

2. Practised my pull-ups more 🙂

3 wishes for the Regionals

1. Great WODs (and having been able to participate)!

2. Close competitions

3. Danes qualifying for the CrossFit Games 2010!

4 nice things about the Sectionals

1. Great crowd

2. That Mikko Salo showed up

3. Having Hollis from CrossFit Santa Cruz as head judge

4. The overall performance of the athletes

5 things that I’ve learned from this experience

1. Never underestimate your competitors

2. Need to train hard(er)

3. Need to train (even) smarter

4. Set a goal and go for it! (mine was to end up in the top 3)

5. Need to improve my pull-ups!

Sarah finished 3rd!

Thanks to Casall for believing in me!

Exhilarating

2 things I would have done different

  1. Improved my warmup routine for all of the WOD’s
  2. Remembered to have my picture taken with Mikko!

3 wishes for the Regionals

  1. Improve my flexibility
  2. Work on my lifting techniques and focus
  3. Improve my kipping pull-ups

4 nice things about the Sectionals

  1. Great atmosphere
  2. Meeting new athletes
  3. The support and instructional advice from my fellow athletes
  4. Stockholm is a fantastic city

5 things that I’ve learned from this experience

  1. Worrying doesn’t help anything
  2. Belief and focus right before a WOD is crucial
  3. Going though all of the WOD movements in a warm-up pays off
  4. Never underestimate a WOD – they are designed to bring on the pain
  5. I’m going to refocus the way I work out day to day, 3…2…1…GO!!
All the best!
Kristin

Incredible

2 things I would have done different
I wouldn’t have taped my hands on saturdays second wod
Iwould have tried harder to finish saturdays second wod (12 burpees missing)
(Put more weight on deadlift)

3 wishes for the Regionals
I’m not going to participate, but if I was: pull-ups!

Met a lot of new fantastic people
Learned much new things about CrossFit (both training and compeeting)
Everybody were so supportive and nobody looked down on you
The atmosphere was something you can’t describe

5 things that I’ve learned from this experience
Long way to go but hard work will help me to get to my goals 🙂

North European Sectionals – athlete wrap-up by Greg Soneff, CrossFit Paideia Gym

My top 5

1 word to describe the Sectionals in Stockholm

Inspirational!

2 things I would have done different

1. I would have done 3 more KB Thrusters in the first workout (meant the difference between 11th and 5th place)
2. Started at 180kg in the DL instead of 175kg

3 wishes for the Regionals

That my knee and feet are at 100% and that my family is sitting in the audience cheering me on.

4 nice things about the Sectionals

1. The people, the energy

2. …….and the beers and burger afterwards!!
3. Uffe’s race for the finish

4. Martin’s warrior cry after each DL attempt and after he won the last workout!!

5 things that I’ve learned from this experience

1. Competing is at least as much about mental preparation as it is about physical preparation

2. Strength and skill are pre-requisites for Crossfit

3. What really separates the good athletes from the GREAT athletes is will-power and determination!!

4. Every rep/second/kg counts!!!

5. Lay it on the line!

Greg finished 12th!
